Urban Surf was started by and is operated by Danielle Chevalier and Chris Mingay; both born and raised right here in Windsor-Essex.

At Urban Surf you can expect a unique space and eccentric personality. Since we started Urban Surf in 2013 it’s always been “work-in-progress”as we continually follow our passions and adjust what we offer.

Our first motto written down over a decade ago is still the core of everything we do today. FITNESS. ADVENTURE. PASSION. Our compass has always been guided by following our passions – what we believe in with all our heart and have a pure motivation to share with the world. The beauty is it’s always evolving as we do – it’s an adventure. Our adventure and voice started in fitness with AXFIT.com and has brought us on an amazing adventure as we continue to follow our evolving passions . We hope that by sharing our passions for health, fitness, wellness, travel, and art through our businesses we can give you an experience that will be a positive part of your personal adventure.

THE EVOLUTION OF URBAN SURF (AXFIT)…

Started with AXFIT Bootcamps
Rented Paddle Boards from local paddling legend “Matt Reaume” to add to a SUP-FIT class
We loved Paddling, the Lake St. Clair vibe and knew we had to make it accessible to everyone. Got our own boards.
Built board trailer and dropped-in at different locations as we searched for the best location to rent boards from and host our classes
Came across “Ted Dudleys Marina”. Feel in love. Reached out to owner to see if we could rent a boat slip to rent boards from
He agreed + told us house was also available for rent ->WE TOOK IT! “owner at the time helped us out a lot – and was key to making urban Surf what it is today” Ex. we took what was a normal garage and turned it into a smoothie kitchen!! haha imagine a tenant renting your house asked you that?
The rest is history…we feel in love, we were passionate about sharing paddling and the lake, and to this day we continue to make urban surf and Lake St. Clair the “Heart of The Great Lakes”
